I'm glad that it's over with. I'm surprised that Willie was able to keep the job for this long after the "collapse".

It was long overdue and probably should have been made this past winter. That said,
two things are bothering me. One - the timing was atrocious. They get swept in a 4
game series by San Diego a week ago and there is no move made. They have won 3
of their last 4 and Willie is fired, at 3 in the morning, after flying to the West Coast.
Willie did not deserve that kind of degrading treatment. Two - Jerry Manuel is NOT
the answer. Why not take a little more time and find a better replacement??? Manuel
has been on the bench through all of this and certainly hasn't added any pearls of wisdom!
I can tell you this much - the media will not let go of how this firing went down. They will
harp on it if for no other reason than Willie was a popular Yankee. Omar will get a lot of
bad press and the Wilpons HATE bad press! I'm afarid Omar's decision will eventually
cost him his job, but hey, this is his mess anyway!

I think this whole soap opera thing is starting to make me interested, HA! In all seriousness, as Steve talked about, the media has been – is – and will be – all over these Mets; especially Mr. Minaya. The Wilpon’s may be mentioned here-and-there, however, they’ve made it rather clear that Omar was the man to Free Willie.

I don’t recall, nor would I want to remember, actually being interested in some of this Mets drama. I’ve always focused on their production and whether or not they’re winning or losing. Further, I’ve gotten involved with this ongoing debacle enough that I’m kind of looking forward to the next-page. I mean cmon – how can’t you be curious to whether or not Minayas head will be called for day-in and day-out, with these crazy media people hounding his home, office, and every place he goes.

Needless to say, I’d much rather have the good ole days back with these Metropolitans. I just want to watch a freakin’ game where the Mets play like they want to be playing, and watch them run off the field Winners. I’m not asking for too much, or am I??

In regards to Manuel, I truly don’t see him and his new staff making any kind of difference that would have enough influence on this team. I believe it’s in the laps of the players; the coaches still need to lead, manage, and motivate; however, the fate of our September and October lays with the players who put on the uniforms, grab the bats, wear the gloves, and hopefully touch home base on a consistent basis. Let’s Go!

I like Willie. Happy to see Peterson out the door. Maybe he can fix his coaching career in 15 minutes similar to how he could fix Victor Zambrano's pitching mechanics.

Sad to see HoJo still there.

Get ready in the offseason. Ken Harrelson is finally going to get fed up with Guillen. The Oz Man will be the Met's manager in 2009.

I sure hope the fiasco is over with. Yes, Randolph has been dismissed, however, there still seems to be an “upper management” cloud lingering over this team. I do think that one-thing will solve it, and that’s Winning!
