Only time will tell with this, however, by the looks of Jose Reyes during the much-needed emotional win, I’d say that Jerry Manuel has at least displayed potential of pushing the right buttons with his players.

The yappity-yap-yapping at the home-plate umpire; the meaningful and solid rear-end slaps from Manuel to his players; the emotion; the desire; the want; the clutch hits and the clutch save; the beginning of many more wins for Manuel and the Team!

It’s only one-win, having said that, there are many more positives than just the final score.

Let’s Go!

They're easily within striking distance of the Phillies. There's no question about that. I like what I've seen from Manuel. He's playing Easley tonight because he hit the game winning homer in LA, and Manuel said he deserved to play again.

I didn't realize Jerry was a former AL Manager of the Year. At
least he brings a track record of success, something Willie was lacking.
There have been some definite early signs that Jerry just may be able
to get these guys motivated and turn this season around. Let's hope
for the best. 5 1/2 back (4 in the loss column) is not insurmountable!

I agree wholeheartedly. I like his in-game strategy and I like his communication with the players. Willie was way too hard on Reyes and it backfired on him.

I also liked that Dan Warthen didn't go running out to the mound as soon as Perez got in trouble and started looking for help. They let him solve his own problems until the bases were loaded. Peterson was too much of a crutch for Perez. I like what I'm seeing from these guys so far.

Just one subtle thing I noticed in Wednesday nights game. I doubt that Willie would have let Perez finish the 5th inning last night. Perez did a nice job in the 6th.
